Day 1 - - Anchorage: (Meals Provided: Breakfast)
With beautiful scenery and wildlife right in town, Anchorage provides visitors with an undeniable charm. The 24-hour shuttle will take you straight to your downtown hotel where you have easy access to artisan shops and local cuisine. A short walk out of downtown can land you on a variety of trails, most notably the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, which allows for seasonal sightings of beluga whales or moose.
Day 2 - - Wasilla & Matanuska Glacier (Meals Provided: Breakfast)
Today’s tour to Wasilla and Matanuska-Susitna Valley takes you north to the Matanuska Glacier. Spectacular views of winding rivers, chiselled mountains and colossal canyons head the drive. Upon arrival, Matanuska Glacier provides you with a rare chance to trek across the glacier where you’ll gain insights into glaciology, geology and natural history. Lunch can be had at nearby lodging with panoramic views of Matanuska Glacier. Upon finishing the tour, you’ll return to Wasilla so you may refresh at your lodging before enjoying a lakeside dinner as dusk sets across the range.
Day 3 - - Hatcher Pass & Knik Glacier: (Meals Provided: Breakfast)
Today’s tour to Hatcher Pass and Independence Gold Mine begins with an airboat ride to the crystalline Knik Glacier. Previously encompassing the entirety of the Anchorage Bowl and Cook Inlet, Knik Glacier provides iridescent views before venturing onwards to witness the Wooley Mammoths of the North: the Arctic Muskox. Afterwards, scenic Hatcher Pass provides an opportunity to view ptarmigan, golden eagles and landscape encapsulated in wildflowers. Learn about the gold miners who made Hatcher Pass their home and try your luck at gold panning.
Day 4 - - Talkeetna & Iditarod Race Headquarters: (Meals Provided: Breakfast)
The day begins at Iditarod Race Headquarters,, an Alaskan heritage and cultural sight. Historically renowned for its role as a trade and delivery route, this was once Alaska’s lifeline to medication, supply and post from the mainland. Today, Iditarod Race Headquarters maintains the tradition of mushing with the annual Iditarod Sled Dog Race.. Afterwards, your trip to Talkeetna provides miraculous views of Denali, snowcapped mountains and the chance to see Dall sheep and moose.
Upon arriving in Talkeetna you’ll have the opportunity to explore the town’s artisan shops before venturing on the Talkeetna Queen riverboat service. On the river, you may see caribou, otter, moose and bald eagles. Upon returning to Talkeetna, dinner can be had at one of the renowned local diners.
Day 5 - - Seward Highway & Seward: (Meals Provided: Breakfast)
Driving the Seward Highway presents memorable sights: mountain spires echo into the distance while local wildlife reveals itself. A stop at Crow Creek Mine provides you the opportunity to test your skill at gold panning, and Big Game Alaska Rehabilitation Center provides first-hand sights of some of Alaska’s renowned wildlife. After learning about the center’s mission and the animals that reside, a night in Seward allows you time to rejuvenate.
Day 6 - - Seward & Kenai Fjord National Park Cruises: (Meals Provided: Breakfast)
Explore the harbor town of Seward by watching the dawn break across the glacial waters of its harbor. Afterwards, cruise with Kenai Fjord National Park Cruises for the chance to view otter, sea lions, eagles and whales before witnessing the calving glacier. Enjoy Seward at your own pace with a leisure evening along its ports and the chance to watch the twilight descend across Seward’s crystalline waters.
Day 7 - - Anchorage: (Meals Provided: Breakfast)
Our trip culminates with our return to Anchorage. It’s advised to book return flights for after 1:00 P.M. for ample time to view its historic downtown and nature trails. If time permits, the Native Heritage Center and Anchorage Museum will introduce you to Alaskan art, culture and heritage.
