Day 1 - - Anchorage: (Meals Provided: Breakfast)
With beautiful scenery and wildlife right in town, Anchorage provides visitors with an undeniable charm. The 24-hour shuttle will take you straight to your downtown hotel where you have easy access to artisan shops and local cuisine. A short walk out of downtown can land you on a variety of trails, most notably the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, which allows for seasonal sightings of beluga whales or moose.
Day 2 - - Matanuska Glacier: (Meals Provided: Breakfast & Dinner)
The scenic drive to Matanuska Glacier provides views of iridescent glacial waters, dense pine thickets, snow-coated mountain ranges and colossal granite spires as the mountains soar towards the clouds.
Upon reaching the glacier, ice pools, towering moulins, and deep canyons are some of the sights you’ll experience on your 3 ½ hour hike across the glacial face. You’ll have the rare opportunity to gain first-hand insights into glaciology, geology, and natural history across the 27-mile long river of ice, flowing from the Chugach Mountains north to the Glenn Highway. Complimentary ice cleats and walking sticks for your ease of use will be provided.
Afterwards, enjoy lunch at a locally-renowned wilderness lodge with panoramic views of the Chugach Mountains. Keep your eyes open for the chance to witness an abundance of wildlife including Dhall sheep, eagles, and ptarmigan.
Towards the evening, relax and refresh at Lake Lucille B&B before enjoying a rustic Alaskan barbeque by the lake as dusk descends upon the waters.
Day 3 - - Hatcher Pass & Knik Glacier: (Meals Provided: Breakfast)
Your morning begins with an airboat shuttle to Knik Glacier, allowing you to see crystal blue icebergs floating quietly in serene Lake George. Previously covering the entirety of the Anchorage Bowl and Cook Inlet, Knik Glacier is famous for its historically cataclysmic floods. Enjoy a walk along the terminal moraine or a hike along the crystalline glacial face.
After lunch, you’ll visit the Palmer Musk Ox Farm, allowing you to see the Wooley Mammoths of the North. Native to certain regions of Greenland, Canada, and Serbia, the farm is one of the few places in America where you can witness these rare and elusive creatures.
Afterwards, you’ll travel to Hatcher Pass, a high mountain pass of exceptional beauty. With peaks enshrouded in emerald alpine and crystalline glacial waters, a journey here is a visual treasure. Try your luck at panhandling and see what riches the river provides and learn about the vast historical significance of Alaska’s gold mining culture. Stay aware and you may be rewarded with sightings of moose, eagles, or mountain goats.
In the evening, return to Lake Lucille B&B to rest and rejuvenate for the next day.
Day 4 - - Talkeetna & Iditarod Race Headquarters: (Meals Provided: Breakfast)
The day begins at Iditarod Race Headquarters, an Alaskan heritage and cultural sight. Historically renowned for its role as a trade and delivery route, this was once Alaska’s lifeline to medication, supply and post from the mainland. Today, Iditarod Race Headquarters maintains the tradition of mushing with the annual Iditarod Sled Dog Race.
Afterwards, the quaint and quirky town of Talkeetna provides “Old Alaskan” rustic charm. Stroll through the town’s artisan shops or grab lunch at the locally-renowned restaurants for hearty frontier food and drink.
From here you’ll take the Mahay’s River Boat Safari, providing adventurers with an intimate opportunity to explore Talkeetna’s river ways and rugged back country. Good weather will allow for impressive sights of Denali, while the safari will allow you to witness bears, moose, beavers, caribou, or other native wildlife.
After a day of impressive sights, you’ll return to Wasilla’s Lake Lucille B&B.
Day 5 - - Seward Highway & Seward: (Meals Provided: Breakfast)
Crow Creek Mine offers visitors rich history and beautiful natural scenery of one of Alaska’s largest producing gold mines. Hugged between the Chugach Mountains, Crow Creek Mine’s unique blend of historical buildings, antique and rare mining equipment, motley gardens and variety of hiking trails offer an ethereal moment for visitors eager to get rich off its cultural relevance or its still-producing mines.
Afterwards, Big Game Alaska Rehabilitation Center provides first-hand sights of some of Alaska’s renowned wildlife before enjoying lunch at Summit Lake, a blue-green expanse of glacier-fed waters, high in the mountains.
To finish the day enjoy a trip to Seward's Sealife Center, a $56 million project towards study and restoration of Alaska's marine wildlife provides an opportunity to view harbor seals and sea lions, or partake in live exhibits.
In the evening, check into your Seward accommodations. As dusk arrives, a walk along the harbor provides luminous twilight vistas.
Day 6 - - Seward & Kenai Fjord National Park Cruises: (Meals Provided: Breakfast)
Explore the harbor town of Seward by watching the dawn break across the glacial waters of its harbor.
Afterwards, cruise with Kenai Fjord National Park Cruises for the chance to view otter, sea lions, seals, eagles and whales before witnessing the parks calving glaciers.
